Assisted Reproductive Technologies
Morfeld Research & Conservation, LLC provides specialized assisted reproductive technologies to support wildlife conservation, zoological management, and applied research. Our team offers expertise in semen collection, artificial insemination, laparoscopic egg retrieval, in vitro fertilization (IVF), embryo transfer, and gamete or embryo cryopreservation across a range of wildlife species. These services are designed to enhance genetic management, support sustainable breeding programs, and advance reproductive success in managed and conservation-relevant populations.
How it works
Every project begins with a customized reproductive plan tailored to the species, individual animals, and specific breeding or genetic management goals. This may include semen collection, artificial insemination, egg retrieval, IVF, embryo transfer, or gamete or embryo cryopreservation.
Once the plan is established, Morfeld Research & Conservation works directly with veterinary and animal care teams to coordinate procedures, timing, and logistics. Sample collection, reproductive procedures, and any required laboratory processing are conducted following species-specific protocols and best practices.
Following each procedure, clients receive clear, non-technical summaries outlining outcomes, next steps, and recommendations. All procedural records and reports are securely uploaded to our password-protected client portal, allowing clients to access and track reproductive data and outcomes in one centralized location.

Semen Collection
We safely and efficiently collect semen from male animals using species-specific, minimally invasive techniques. Samples can be used immediately for breeding or preserved for future use.
Artificial Insemination
AI allows for precise introduction of semen into a female’s reproductive tract, supporting breeding programs and enhancing genetic diversity without moving animals.
Egg Retrieval
Laparoscopic egg retrieval allows for the retrieval of oocytes from female animals using minimally invasive, species-appropriate techniques. Collected oocytes can be used immediately for IVF or preserved through cryopreservation.
In-vitro Fertilization
IVF combines oocytes and sperm in a controlled laboratory environment to produce embryos, which can then be transferred to recipients or preserved for future use.
Embryo Transfer
Healthy embryos are transferred to a recipient female, enabling successful pregnancies while reducing stress and risk associated with transporting breeding animals.
Cryopreservation
Semen, oocytes, and embryos can be frozen and stored long-term, creating a genetic “bank” for future breeding, research, or conservation. Gametes can also be collected from the gonads of recently deceased animals.
Access your sample inventories in our secure client portal
Clients can securely access their semen, oocyte, or embryo databases through our website using their unique client login and password. Having everything in one centralized portal makes it easy to review results, track data over time, and download reports whenever needed. Clients can also submit questions directly through the portal, ensuring clear communication and quick support all in one place. See our client portal example below!
